Dragonfly Paradise
Watercolor on Yupo 9.5x13.5 Professionally matted/Framed:. 15.5 x25.5 plus shipping.
The painting was started by spreading the webbing across the Yupo, which is a slick surface, tacking it down on the edges of your board. Water is brushed over the surface and then 3-4 diluted Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors are sprayed to get the colors which will mix as they are applied. You have to wait until it is dry to remove the webbing.
Once the webbing is removed you can evaluate what the focal point might be. It took a couple weeks to decide, but I saw one of the indigenous dragonflies that seem to love flying over the pool in the summertime. I have been lucky to capture an image when they find a branch to rest for a few minutes. This technique allows me to concentrate on the focal point with my brushes.
