This painting is based on a photo taken at the end of Stage 1 of the Vuelta Tour in 2018.
The significance of the photo was to paint Alberto Contador at some point in his last race as a professional cyclist. I really liked how I captured their expressions from the live stream that I photographed. It starts with a pouring of 4 colors on Yupo and letting it dry. From this point you transfer your drawing to the dry surface. This is where the fun begins -- you lift with alcohol to retrieve your whites and then you paint in your darks. I used my artist's discretion for the composition and design by just including the front 3 of 5 riders with Contador in the middle and changed their jersey colors.
