I couldn't wait to try to paint the background in real time as seen by the cyclists during the streaming of the Tour de France the past 21 days. I was lucky to capture this particular image of Wout in the breakaway.
I used a technique of 3 colors on a tilted board wetting the surface and then applying deli paper over the surface and with a pipette add the colors individually to form the lines of movement. I still needed to dry brush the colors to create the movement.
He deserves the recognition of one of the several outstanding cyclists in the Tour. He was a valuable team member who was the Yellow Jersey winner at the end of the Tour as well as always trying for more "Green Jersey" points throughout. He accumulated more points than any cyclists for the Green Jersey over the 21 days.
