SPRING IS BUSTING OUT ALL OVER
I didn't know there is a difference among different groups when the first day of Spring arrives, did you? I think March 20th this year is what most will consider the date. Many of the trees and flowers in my garden think spring is here already, but..... last year on Feb 25th we got snow that stayed on the ground. Zoey loved it and most of our plants did survive. Spring isn't here yet but as you are anticipating your "spring cleaning" it is a good time to change out your accessories and paintings. Check out my galleries to see which painting might be just the thing to bring "new life" to your room.
So what is important in my art world when spring rolls around. I can tell you that I am tempted to go out in my garden rather than be indoors painting. Those artists who paint plein air are already outside enjoying the fresh air that we still enjoy in the Pacific Northwest. With so much rain at the beginning of 2020 there is moss covering everything. The color of moss is such a beautiful green that I'll probably incorporate it in a couple of my paintings which I'll start this month. This photo is from one of our Paper Bark Maples a month ago with little patches of this moss dotting the limbs.
It is a great time to visit Portland's gardens to see the beautiful flowers, trees and plants: Portland Japanese Garden, Lan Su Chinese Garden, International Rose Test Garden, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Hoyt Arboretum, and The Grotto are a few of my favorites. A little later in the Spring I'm hoping to head south on I-5 to see the Adelman Peony Gardens, Schreiner's Iris Gardens, and the Oregon Garden

I wanted to leave this up a little longer to share one of the most perfect conditions that our family experienced at Mt. Hood on the 28th of December. The end of the Glade Trail at Government Camp was perfect for building snowmen and sledding. That is one of the cutest snowmen I've seen and Mother Nature contributed all the accessories, especially the pine branch mohawk and moss hair!! I hope you enjoy the video of one of the successful long runs down the hill. I am so grateful that we were able to be together this Christmas -- one we will all remember as one of the standouts for fun and just being together.
