Fine Art Miniature 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 Framed 9 1/4 x 11 3/4
To make the challenge of painting the reflections in the wine glasses a little more interesting, I filled them with wine to get a more abstract painting.

Original is a watercolor. There are so many photos today that are not so beautiful in this country. I wanted to be able to portray something of the culture from several years ago before all the political changes. I imagined myself from my own experiences on river trips washing dishes in the river but never with such a beautiful sunset that was captured in this photo. It would make the chore much easier. I cropped this photo into two with the river now a separate painting

I love painting the barrels and the racks of wine aging to perfection but the best part is when we can enjoy it with friends. Here’s “toasting to the good times and good friends.”

Reidel makes a special wine glass for Oregon's pinot noir wine sales. I love the size and shape. Adding colors in the Basque tablecloth from our trip and distorting the edges made it really fun to paint.

I started this original Watercolor painting using wet into wet technique to keep the majority of the painting transparent and fresh. We visited Kowloon Park in Hong Kong several years ago and the peaceful setting and tranquility of the pond in particular still is vivid in my memory. I was lucky to capture this koi rising to feed.
Canvas Print #1 from original watercolor and pastel painting.20 x 30 x 1.5
The original painting started with a technique using fresh paint deliberately placed on glass reversing the different colors based on my design. I dampen the watercolor paper and place it on the glass, smoothing and pressing slightly for a minute or two then carefully lift it off. I let it dry totally before adding to the background. I painted the trunks first to develop my design in the trees. Next I added conte crayons (pastels) to the trunks. The leaves and branches were a combination of both.
I loved how the two mediums lifted the painting in ways each couldn’t have done by themselves.

St. Jean de Luz on the Atlantic coast of France is one of our favorite places to stay when visiting France. You get the quaint fishing Port, cultural and historical influence of the Basque, Spanish and French cultures with the historical significance of being chosen to host the royal wedding on June 9, 1660 of Louis XIV to Maria Theresa Princess, Spain which lead to the Treaty of the Pyrenees. The quaint fishing port adds even more to the reason I love this place. I used this subject to paint 4 more abstract versions of the floats and nets.
11x14 Aluminum Print framed 14x17 I couldn't resist having an aluminum print made of this painting that had sold and I wanted it still to hang in our home in some form. This is the 2nd print made of this painting. I still get excited when I think that I not only watched this moment that stands out in the history of professional cycling but actually captured it while watching live.

Heian Shrine in Japan is where my husband visited in 1964. The Middle Garden's stepping stones symbolize "riding on a dragon flying in the sky." I adapted his trip photos to include one where these three girls were making their way across the pond. I always like to include umbrellas in my paintings since I live in Oregon where we always have one handy. From an original watercolor which was sold.

Printed from an Original Watercolor which my Uncle asked me to paint from an image he took while in India. I researched Siberian Tigers and found this to be a female who appeared to come to the water for a quiet drink only to pick up the scent of humans. Printed from an original watercolor on hot press paper using watercolor, gouache, iridescent paints and acrylic to develop the coral which is dying due to the warming of the oceans around Hawaii. 22.7x16 Archival Print on Hahnemhle Photo Rag 308; Matted 28x22. Printed from an original watercolor on hot press. The intensity of the colors was achieved using a technique called "pressing" using concentrated fresh pigments on the wetted surface of the paper. The trees had been masqued. There is something magnificent and magical of being in the fall forest.
21.9x16 Archival Print on Hahnemhle Photo Rag 308; matted 28x22. Printed from an original watercolor on AquaBord. Used technique of spraying highly pigmented watercolors on wet webbing creating the underpainting. On our first trip to France we had a very quick visit to Avignon before returning to Paris. A tour guide suggested our route and this was one of the photos which captured the essence of that walled city. The lady stirred up three pigeons as she approached us. This is the 2nd version of this street because I thought the broader view would be better seen using watercolors on watercolor paper. Juried into Fall Exhibition of the Watercolor Society of Oregon 2018.

We hiked down this path to see the "Marker" several years ago. The Willamette Stone is the 'Initial Point" of the Willamette Meridian which all land survey and property descriptions in OR and WA are referenced to. This was my first very large painting. I chose to make it a fall scene even though we hiked when it was spring. I love color and believe I made the right choice.

Watercolor (Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors) and Daniel Smith duotones and iridescent watercolors) on Yupo. Image: 14x22.
Continuing my series of Peacocks, I'm very interested in the detail of the head and the crown, particularly the eyes of the peacocks. The colors are always so beautiful that I can't resist painting. Paintings done on Yupo stay true from the first application. This one gave me the opportunity to add my vision to what I saw in many different photos we have taken.

10.4 x 32 Archival Print #1 on Enhanced Matt paper; matted 16 1/8 x 37 3/4. The original idea for this painting series came from seeing the fishing nets and floats drying on the docks at Saint Jean de Luz in France. We visited there twice now -- a marvelous place for a vacation. I decided to paint this scene in a more abstract way in watercolor on AquaBord and then seal it so it could be framed without glass. The original sold while in a show at the Guistina Gallery on the campus of OSU in Corvallis. I love this painting and signed by me on the certificate of authenticity

13 1/2 x 10 1/2 Archival Print # 1 on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 double matted in sleeve. Original was a mixture of Watercolor and gesso juice. Our amazing 2nd trip to Bayonne to discover the Nadal ancestry's addresses during the 1800's was truly unbelievable to find the street and buildings basically unchanged. This door was what I think of typical French colors and I loved the shadows from the lightpost on the wall and the way the light reflected on the door.

Third in my series of doors which we photographed while travelling to France on different trips. This door is special because it is on the same street where my husband's ancestors lived in the early 1800's. Amazing to see how the old parts of cities survive and how little change happens to the appearance and the industry which continues the same.
