15 Gorilla Family in Uganda
Watercolor on 140 lb Arches. 30 x 40 unmatted and unframed. 2004
I was asked to paint the entire family of Ugandan gorillas by our son, Eric Nadal, from his trip and adventure climbing up the mountain in 2003 (the park limited 6 visitors per day) and surprised to be accompanied by two dozen soldiers.
I used the individual reference photos to replicate the area they were seen in. I spent 3 months trying to get them all included.
Originally I was going to donate this to one of the art organizations in Africa so the money could go toward park maintenance for the gorillas but haven been unable to complete this.
