We are so lucky to live in a city with beautiful gardens. We enjoy taking out of town friends to the Rose Garden in Washington Park. We all were photographing so many beautiful roses which were gleaming with the morning sun after a sprinkle the night before.
My favorite rose, which I call the “Gratitude Rose” is just below the entrance steps. It captures the eye with the yellows, oranges, pinks and reds in the petals–just like a watercolor.
The “gratitude” comes from our visit 6 years ago to the garden. My husband had been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. We needed to go somewhere peaceful and beautiful. We were grateful that a cycling crash x-ray found the cancer long before there were any symptoms. Still grateful today with his remission after a stem cell transplant.
