Heian Shrine in Japan is where my husband visited in 1964. The Middle Garden's stepping stones symbolize "riding on a dragon flying in the sky." I adapted his trip photos to include one where these three girls were making their way across the pond. I always like to include umbrellas in my paintings since I live in Oregon where we always have one handy.
